Re: Rice turns down two contract offers
Exwhu has had his wings clipped again and got a bollocking from sullivan. He's now had to put a tweet out denying that the offer was less than Yarmolenkos wage

Re: Rice turns down two contract offers
Rice will do what is right for him, and that's fair enough. It's a short career, he's not a life long West Ham fan, and no one could argue he's not given his absolute all every time he pulls on the shirt. We've been good for him, and he's been good for us.

If he has turned down 120k per week (which it sounds like has happened) then I can see that a couple of ways. One, if we're saying it will take 100m to buy him then that puts him as the 6th most expensive signing of all time if someone pays it, and him valued by the club in the same company as Neymar, Mbappe and Griezman (and the wages they earn).

Of course, he's not remotely in their company, 120k per week is a fair offer to someone his age, at the rate he's progressing and playing at the club he is, but so would a transfer fee of around 70m if you look at other players who've gone for similar money, and undoubtedly if one of the truly huge clubs come in for him he'll probably be looking at 175k to 250k per week (and his agent will know that).

....and as has been stated...we've not had an enquiry or a bid for him yet anyway.

Re: Rice turns down two contract offers
Can certainly see openings for him at City, United and Chelsea sadly., City's defensive midfielders are all getting on a bit, I would expect United to want an upgrade on McTominay and was surprised to see that Kante is 30 at Chelsea. Hope he stays another year or two but who knows.

Re: Rice turns down two contract offers
Will be a bit down on him if he leaves this summer. He is still progressing with us and next season gets European football. If we didn't get champions league football next year (as is likely to be the case) I could understand, but this year is too early for him to leave. But the way he dumped Ireland for England is a bit of an insight into his mentality.

I would still see him leaving just as he becomes a good players as 'fucking us'
He could happily take 100k a week and give us a couple more years to develop and lead this club on a European charge then leave but to go now after all we have been through would leave a bitter taste in my mouth yes.

That ok for you?

Re: Rice turns down two contract offers
Ideally I'd like him to stay for the coming season. We will probably stay in the top half with him and Soucek in the centre, plus the attraction of playing in Europe is on offer.

Maybe if all goes well, and football finances rebound in 12 months to former levels, and with Rice adding another season to get nearer to his career peak, we might get more chance of silly money for him than at the moment.

Re: Rice turns down two contract offers
I'm sure GSB would like to have big offer on the table for him so they can claim they tried to keep him and did all they could but he wanted to leave.

They will want the money more than Rice wants to move.

Re: Rice turns down two contract offers
Moyes said on tv at the end of the season, with a big sloppy grin on his face, that Rice will be here next season. I highly doubt much has changed since then and this is just 'silly season' nonsense, which still gets lapped up year after year.

End of the day we are in a strong position with Rice, either way, which makes a nice change for this club.

Re: Rice turns down two contract offers
I don't take much notice of the article which is generally a bunch of hot air and unfounded speculation however one thing that is true is that Rice is ambitious, wants to compete and win top domestic, european and international honours.

It's very unlikely that all his ambition will be met by West Ham however if the club actually show some real intent this summer and desire to be a real contender for silverware then it may buy a year or two. It sounds like his buddy Lingard is unlikely to come so there needs to be significant quality coming in instead to strengthen the squad.

My guess is that being on England duty and chatting to Champions league regulars just shows him what he is missing out on.

Re: Rice turns down two contract offers
What a despicable article.

We should just sell him for £60m because he didn’t cost us anything. How much did Grealish, Foden and Kane cost? Does that mean they are also valued at £60m?

Re: Rice turns down two contract offers
Things never change. Aged fifteen he trained at both Tottenham and Chelsea. However, West Ham manager Ron Greenwood watched him with scout Wally St Pier, and Brooking was offered apprenticeships by all three clubs, with only West Ham allowing him to stay on at school to finish his studies. Despite his parents being offered £500 and a car by manager Tommy Docherty to gain his signature for Chelsea he remained at school signing an apprenticeship deal with West Ham on 24 July 1965, his parents receiving no fee.

Re: Rice turns down two contract offers
I'm pretty sure Rice and the club wouldn't be involved with contract negotiations during the Euros. Which means, if true, this all happened weeks ago.

Re: Rice turns down two contract offers
You wouldn’t bet against them offering him derisory terms so that he asks for a move and they say they have tried to keep him but he wants to leave

claretandbluedagger 10:17 Thu Jul 1
Re: Rice turns down two contract offers
Amazing how much of this is clearly just Matt Law making things up.

“Rice would want to see offers”
“Rice would be disappointed if £60m bids were turned down”.

We can all play that game.

Rice would be gutted to go to Chelsea as he thinks they’re all rent boys.

Rice loves it at West Ham because he spends all his time plowing a certain WHO poster’s missus.

This is fun.

Re: Rice turns down two contract offers
aresgrapes - They could have built a team around Payet or Arnie but chose to cash in as always.
Sorry mate, thats not true. Both of them were determined to leave. Payet to return to France & possibly family problems & Arnie to earn a fortune in China that we could never have matched.
Dislike the owners as much as you like, but
a) this story is unsubstantiated
b) if a much bigger club were to make a huge offer (say £170k a week plus), only the very top clubs could match that mind of money!
c) IF Rice wants to leave for Champions League football, we cannot provide that.

By 'fuck us' do you mean leave whilst earning the club several times more than they have for any other player in the clubs history?

Sounds like he just wants to be paid fairly. Fair enough, so would I if I could see some cunt doing the same job as me but not quite as well being paid more.
